If you know me, you know nu-metal is tattooed on my soul. I was a teenager when it all went down—when Korn shattered MTV, Linkin Park stormed the charts, and Orgy brought that futuristic cyber-metal twist that made you want to smash the dance floor and the pit at the same time. So when I heard that rising artist Nathan James was calling his music nu nu-metal, my curiosity wasn’t just piqued—it was activated.
His new single “Nails” just dropped, and trust me—it HITS.
Not only is the track loaded with distorted drop-tuned guitars and glitchy industrial layers, but it also features Jay Gordon of ORGY, one of my all-time favorite frontmen. The vibe is straight out of the Family Values Tour era, but with a slick, modern edge that screams 2025. It’s like James opened a sonic portal back to ’99 and invited Jay to bring the chaos forward.
Jay sounds phenomenal on this track. The way his voice weaves through the beat, layered with James’ snarling delivery, gives “Nails” an aggressive elegance. It’s dark, it’s dramatic, and it’s got that pulsing energy that Orgy perfected and that James is clearly drawing inspiration from. Honestly, hearing Jay sound this good makes me really hope there’s more Orgy music in the pipeline. Please, Jay!
Nathan James is dropping his debut album Hollywood Mortician on July 11th via CrowdKill Records, and if “Nails” is any indication of what’s coming, we’re about to witness a nu-metal resurrection—rebuilt, refined, and more vicious than ever.
Keep your eyeliner close and your volume louder. Nu nu-metal is HERE.
