Hard Pass: "Holiday Sides Chocolate"

Maybe this isn't really a "hard pass", but at first it does sound pretty gnarly, but I do love sweet & savory stuff.

Luxury chocolatier Phillip Ashley Chocolates is helping Campbell’s celebrate America’s love of sides with a sweet limited-edition launch inspired by classic Campbell’s side dishes. The Holiday Sides Collection is a six-piece, ‘soup infused,’ savory chocolate set inspired by iconic Campbell’s holiday recipes, including:

  • Green Bean Casserole – Campbell’s icon and top side dish, per the State of the Sides, this truffle brings out the umami flavors of the dish by featuring Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom condensed soup, green beans and onion infused sea salt in a dark chocolate fudge bonbon.
  • Jalapeño Cheddar Mac & Cheese – A top side dish that continues to grow in popularity around the holidays, this truffle features Campbell’s Cheddar Cheese soup, triple cream Brie, and jalapeño-infused white chocolate ganache in a blond chocolate bonbon.
  • Baked Corn Casserole – One of a few holiday side dish options that Americans would eat year-round, this truffle is composed of cornbread, sweet corn and Campbell’s Cream of Chicken soup in a white chocolate bonbon.
  • Hot Honey Mashed Sweet Potatoes – The perfect balance of sweet and spicy, this truffle is composed of sweet potatoes, thyme, local Memphis hot honey, Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom soup and milk in a chocolate bonbon.
  • Everything Bagel Mashed Potatoes – A trendy twist on the nation’s favorite side dish, this truffle features a Campbell’s Cheddar Cheese soup caramel coated in a dark chocolate bonbon with everything bagel seasoning.
  • Apple, Fennel & Herb Stuffing – A combination of rich flavor, this truffle contains roasted apples, fennel and Campbell’s Cream of Celery Soup bread pudding in a blond chocolate bonbon.

Leslie's Playlist: Halloween

I realize that it's been a very long time since I shared a playlist with you, I'm so sorry! Things have been very busy over here at Casa de Q. But since Halloween is right around the corner, you know I HAVE to share my favorite spooky songs with you. So without further ado, here we go.

No Halloween playlist is complete without this song from Dark Divine! It's the quintessential Halloween song.
I was trying to not put the obvious songs on here, but I can't help it with this one. The Misfits belong on every spooky playlist that exists. Forever and ever amen.
I recently discovered this song from Call Me Karizma. It's a sick jam and I'm living for it.
If you're not already familiar with Mike's Dead, you've got to get on board. You won't be disappointed at all.
What a beautiful ode to Psycho. Have you seen this video all the way through?? Major kudos to Ice Nine Kills for getting Joe Bob Briggs as the Judge. Man, I love this song!
An ABSOLUTE classic! This one from Concrete Blonde belongs on every spooky playlist.
You knew I was going to put something from Motionless on this list, I mean, how could I not?
Another ABSOLUTE classic that should never be passed up for a spooky playlist.
I could literally go on forever with this Halloween playlist, but I'll end it with Stabbing Westward.

I hope you enjoyed my Halloween playlist. Can't wait to share more spooky music with you next year.

Channeling the essence of rock 'n' roll, Christophe-Nicolas notes, “the most important thing to remember is that the mullet is not just a mullet, it's something that inspires attitude and style in clothing.”

He adds, “Whether you like it or not, the mullet is making a real comeback because it can distinguish people who were quite ordinary with their usual haircut.” Source.

Where to get some coffee deals on National Coffee Day

Ah, coffee! As a commercial once sang to us, "the best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup". Can I get an Amen here?!

Friday September 29th is National Coffee Day and there are some places around town that are giving their loyal customers deals & discounts on their coffee.

Here's a list on what national chains are participating*.

Dunkin'

Participating Dunkin’ locations across the U.S. are offering a free hot or iced medium coffee with the purchase of any other beverage or bakery item on Friday.

Krispy Kreme

Customers at participating Krispy Kreme locations can try the chain’s new drip coffee or espresso drinks (one per customer) for free on Sept. 29, no purchase necessary. Anyone who purchases a dozen doughnuts can also buy an additional dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for just $2 more.

Panera

In honor of National Coffee Day, new subscribers (or former subscribers) who sign up for Panera’s Unlimited Sip Club between Sept. 29 and Oct. 10 can join for $99 per year (a savings of approximately $20 over the regular annual rate) or $5 per month for four months (a savings of almost $7 per month).

*Starbucks

While not offering any national deals on coffee or drinks, select Starbucks locations are said to be hosting coffee tastings on Sept. 29. (Customers are asked to inquire with their local shops to find out who may be participating.)

While this small list is just about national chains, be sure to check with the many independently owned coffee shops here in town. We've got a lot of them and it doesn't hurt to ask if they've got anything going on for National Coffee Day.
