Like so many of you, my teenage and early adult years were soundtracked by 3 Doors Down. That unmistakable voice, those raw lyrics, and those unforgettable guitar riffs became part of the background to our lives—road trips, heartbreaks, celebrations, and everything in between.
That’s why it hit so hard when Brad Arnold, the longtime frontman of 3 Doors Down, recently shared that he’s battling stage 4 cancer.
To be honest, this news has been heavy on my heart ever since I heard it. Like many of you, I can sing 99% of the lyrics from The Better Life and Away from the Sun without missing a beat. Those albums weren’t just music—they were a refuge. A reminder that we weren’t alone in whatever we were going through.
Now, it’s our turn to remind Brad that he’s not alone.
Stage 4 cancer is a brutal diagnosis, and it’s hard to even find the right words for moments like this. But what I do know is that we rock fans are some of the most loyal and supportive people on the planet. We rally behind our own. We fight. We believe. And we show up.
So today, everyone here at Q102 and across the rock community is sending love, strength, and every bit of positive energy we’ve got to Brad and his family. You gave us so much through your music, Brad—and we’re standing with you now.

Stay strong, brother. You can beat this.
We got to see 3 Doors Down back in 2022 before the NASCAR race at Bristol. Amazing concert.
